Our Hunts

Fowl Weather offers fully guided Alaskan Duck hunts from September 1st through December 16th every year. We tailor our hunts around your wishes and the birds you are after. We realize what an Alaskan Sea Duck hunt means to a lot of hunters, and work hard to ensure you a quality hunt.

Many ducks winter over in the food-rich waters of Kachemak Bay. Our hunts take place in many different areas in this large body of water. Harlequin ducks are on many hunters’ lists, and Kachemak Bay consistently holds good numbers of this sea duck.

Harlequin Duck Catch From Guided Alaska Sea Duck Hunt

Owner-operator Gabe King is a year round Alaskan resident and has been hunting the local waters of Kachemak Bay for 30 years.  He holds a 100 ton United States Coast Guard Masters license. His 33-foot aluminum landing craft, “Smokey Bay”, is used to transport hunters and gear to the hunting grounds. Transportation to and from the boat is included, and lots of freezer space is available for your trophy birds.

Our quality, species-specific hunts are all-day adventures. Crews are usually split up into groups of 2 and spread out within the bay. Once the action slows down, we move to another location. In addition to hunting over decoys from layout boats, floating blinds and various beaches, you will be surrounded by bald eagles, seals, sea others, the occasional whale, and awesome views of Kachemak Bay’s breathtaking snow-capped mountains. A large supply of species-specific decoys are used to target your desired birds.

Our hunts are offered at reasonable rates, and lots of lodging is available in the nearby community of Homer. Your choices in lodging range from rustic B+Bs to hotels with full bars and restaurants. Homer is a scenic community with much to offer, including fine dining -- and for a drink after your successful hunt, you can’t miss the Salty Dawg Saloon located on the Homer Spit.

If you have any more questions, feel free to call Gabe any time. He’s always happy to talk about duck hunting with fellow hunters.
